The UQU herbarium is located at Umm Al-Qura university (Alzaher Campus). The herbarium  houses approximately 1500 preserved specimens (Algae, Gymnosperms, and Angiosperms) collected at various intervals from various parts of Makkah, Jeddah, Al-Hada and the surrounding areas. The collection includes 175 of vascular plant species belongs to 29 families and 121 genera. This represents 95% of the species recorded in Makkah city, which serve as standards for identifying the correct name for holy Makkah plants.Furthermore, this collection represents the main vegetation types in Saudi Arabia as well as 23 % of the families recorded in the country, allowing for effective education of Saudi Arabia's vegetation.
