This website presents the herbarium collection at the Department of Biology, Umm Al-Qura University, Alzaher Campus. This teaching herbarium houses approximately 1500 preserved specimens (Algae, Gymnosperms, and Angiosperms) collected at various intervals from various parts of Makkah, Jeddah, Al-Hada and the surrounding areas. The collection includes 191 of vascular plant species belongs to 36 families and 132 genera. This represents 95% of the species recorded in Makkah city, which serve as standards for identifying the correct name for holy Makkah plants.Furthermore, this collection represents the main vegetation types in Saudi Arabia as well as 23 % of the families recorded in the country, allowing for effective education of Saudi Arabia's vegetation.
