Euphorbia hirta L.

Annual, prostrate or decumbent, slightly branched, hispid herb with branches 10-30 (60) cm long, and yellowish, multicellular hairs, densely so at the nodes. Leaves with 2
mm long, subulate stipules, and 1-2 mm long petioles; blades opposite, 1-4 x 0.5-2
cm, rhombic-ovate to rhombic-lanceolate, asymmetric, narrowed at both ends, serrate
at least in the upper half, usually green below and purplish-tinged or purple above,
multicellular hairy on both surfaces, upper glabrescent. Cyathia in dense, pedunculate,
axillary clusters, 0.5-1 cm across; peduncle c. 0.5-1 cm long; involucre c. 1-1.5 mm
long with pinkish, rounded glands, bracteate. Styles bifid almost to the base. Capsule
acutely 3-lobed, hairy 1-1.3 mm across, smooth. Seeds ovoid, 4-angular, dull-pinkish,
0.3 x 0.5 mm across, ecarunculate.
Saudi Arabia : A common weed.
Distribution: Originally a native of Mexicao and other parts of tropical America.
Now it is of common occurence in both the Worlds.
