Arabic Names : Aihgan, Harah, Khafsh, Khunnayz, Hawdhan. Annual or perennial, erect herb, sometimes a subshrub up to 70 cm tall, usually spreadingly-hairy throughout,
sometimes subglabrous. Stems simple or more usually branched. Leaves mostly rosetted in small specimens:
larger/perennating plants with prominent cauline leaves; ovate to obovate, tapering to a petiole on lower leaves, 2 - 8 x
1 - 4 cm, coarsely dentate-serrate or sinuate or entire. Upper leaves smaller, petiolate to sessile. Flowers yellow
Sepals 3 - 7 mm, erect-spreading, hispid, the inner slightly saccate. Petal clawed, up to 10 mm long. Pods up to 45
mm, deflexed on capillary pedicels, stipitate, flattened, toulose, beak very small below the broadly 2-lobed stigma
Seeds biseriate. Saudi Arabia: Widespread as an annual on non rocky habitats and as a perennial on rocky habitats.
Distribution : Northern Africa, East Africa, SW Asia.
