Astragalus sieberi
Diagnostic description:
Perennial, 10-20 cm tall shrublet surrounded with persistent, rigid, rhachi of leaves. Leaves 8-11 cm long, petiolate; leaflets up to 20 or more crowded pairs on a rigid, spiny-tipped rhachis, ovate to suborbiculate, 3-6 mm long, glabrous above, appressed pubescent below or on both sides, usually the hairs from the lower side appearing as a silvery fringe around the margins. Raceme few-flowered, crowded at base of short branches. Flowers bright yellow, c. 25 mm long. Calyx hairy or glabrescent, c. 12 mm long; teeth short, ciliate fringed. Pods 30-40 mm long, triquetrous, + reticulate veined, glabresent to appressed hairy, woody; beak stout up to c. 8 mm long.
