Arabic name: زربيح ,zorbaih
Annual, sometimes persisting as a short-lived perennial herb, glabrous green with mealy young parts: usually erect٫striated stem, much branched nearer the base. Leaves more or less succulent, lower long-petiolate, usually deltoid or ovate-rhomboid, sometimes elliptic lanceolate especially in regenerating grazed material, irregularly dentate to bidentate, obtuse or acute. Inflorescence leafy to the top or in robust material the terminal part considerably exceeding the leafy part, the cymose clusters arranged in short or large, axillary and terminal paniculate cymes. Perianth-segments 5, basally connate to 1/3 their length, papillose, keeled near the tips, narrowly
membranous- margined. Stamens 5. Seeds black, dull, strongly margined, the margin acute, the pericarp strongly adherent to the seed.
Saudi Arabia: A noxious weed of cultivation, also widespread in the rangelands.
Distribution: Almost cosmopolitan.
