Suaeda monoica
A tall shrub or a small tree up to c. 4 m tall with a distinct trunk up to 25 (-30) cm in girth. Characteristicalle frequently bearing conspicuous insect galls on branches, sometimes on leaves and even on male flowers (with much smaller galls in the latter case). Leaves glabrous, succulent, short-petiolate to sessile, linear to linear-oblone. flattened on both sides or sometimes almost terete, up to 40 mm long, 1.5 - 3.5 mm wide. Flower-clusters axillary in racemosely or paniculately arranged leafy spikes. Male flowers developing first, one (or more) per cluster, much larger than the female flowers, the perianth fused in lower 1/3; stamens 5; ovary obsolete. Female flowers much smaller; perianth fused; stamens rudimentary, minute; stigmas (2-) 3-4. Fruiting perianth membranous. Seeds vertical, glossy balck
