An annual decumbent grass with culms 20-60 cm tall. Leaf-blade linear to linear-lanceolate, 3-30 cm long, 3-8 (rarely more) mm wide. Inflorescence of 2-16 spikes, the spikes digitate or subdigitate in 2 or more whorls or racemose on a central axis, each 3-20 cm long. Spikelets 2.3-3.5 mm long, acute; lower glume minute, 0.2 mm long; upper glume 3-nerved, 1/3 to 1/2 the length of the spikelet; lower lemma 7-nerved, as long as the spikelet, scaberulous on the nerves with minute siliceous spines, appressed pubescent.

Distribution: Almost a cosmopolitan weed.
