Diagnostic description:
Much-branched ,white-stemmed ,low shrublet up to c.35cm tall .Branches usually intricate and bifurcately branched, taperingly thin ending in a pair of dense-flowered spikes each; rather spinescent. Leaves variable , from shortly petioles to subsessile to sessile , elliptical to oblanceolate to linear oblong ,up to 15x4(-5)mm ,revolute margined ,obtuse or acute. Spikes dense-flowered to rather loose-flowered ,one-sided ,3-8(-10)-flowered. Flowers mostly sessile. Fruiting inner sepals up to 3(-4)mm long ,elliptical to ovate. Petals yellow ,a little longer than the flowering calyx. Capsule densely hairy ,about as long as the calyx.
